R.I.O, founded by the German producer team Manuel Reuter (Manian) and Yann Peifer (Yanou) in 2007, is an international dance-project.
R.I.O’s lead singer Neal Antone, better known as Tony T., was born in London. Shortly after his birth his Jamaican parents moved to New York, where Tony T. grew up and gained his first musical experiences. During his travels and early performances in European clubs he met the Cologne based producers of Cascada in 2007, who had just released the first single „De Janeiro“, a cover of the famous “Samba de Janeiro” of Bellini.
As “De Janeiro” became a massive club hit on international dancefloors, Yanou and Manian asked multitalented Tony T. to front the R.I.O. project. In 2008, first “Shine On” and later also “When The Sun Comes Down” conquered radio stations by storm and reached top chart entries. Especially “Shine On” became a hug e radio and club anthem and climbed to Top 20 of the official charts of most European countries; in the Middle East even higher. “In the beginning nobody could imagine this huge and incomparable success! We are very lucky to be a ble to play a live tour around the globe and to rock huge crowds every weekend”, admits the charismatic lead-singer gladly.
In collaboration with Andres Ballinas w ho had become part of the producer and songwriting tea m, R .I.O. once again proved their multi-faceted skills. In May 2009 they released “After The Love”, a highly summer flavored track, which took its rhythmical structure out of the Pachanga.
A Smash in Europe, the song quickly caught on across the globe, followed by "Serenade" and the successful album „Shine On“, released at the beginning of 2010.
After an efficient time of writing and recording Yanou, Manian and Tony T. succeed in developing their typical reggae-house style continuously. This transformation of sound is especially reflected in their new single “Hot Girl”, to be released in June 2010. It equally stands out due to its intoxicating and catchy vocals, massive beats and its new dance-pop and R´n´B- influences.
As R.I.O. succeeded in establishing themselves internationally as a guarantee for over-crowed dancefloors and outstanding party and club nights over the years, “Hot Girl” will hopefully also hit the international dancefloors and scale the charts in a flash!
